Volunteers are the life-force of our organization. We have no paid staff and our organization is entirely volunteer-driven.

Would you like to join us in advocating for shelter reform? Download, and fill out our Volunteer Application, below, then email your Application to volunteer@nokillcontracostacounty.org! Our Volunteer Coordinator will get back to you soon after.

Volunteer Application – Word Document (to fill out on your computer)
Volunteer Application – PDF (to print, fill out, scan)

Volunteer Opportunities include, but are not limited to:

  • Events – Interacting with the community at local events, and spreading the word about what our organization is all about. Additionally, we are still looking for a volunteer Events Coordinator, someone to take charge and schedule events and the volunteers that will attend them.
  • Fundraising – Without the funds to keep us going, we would be unable to advocate effectively. From our legal fee’s and insurance, to web hosting, printing business cards and literature, and renting booth space at local events, none of it would be possible without the financial support of our animal loving community.
  • Community Outreach – As our organization continues to grow and more people become aware of the No Kill Movement, it’s important for us to reach out to schools, clubs, churches, and more, to educate the public about the No Kill philosophy and challenges we are faced with in Contra Costa County.
  • Political Advocacy – If you have experience maneuvering the political battlefield and a passion for helping the underdog (and cats) through shelter reform, then this is your chance to help your community’s pets! We need people to build relationships with city and county officials, attend council meetings, and ‘schmooze’ the people that hold the power to set us on the path to our No Kill future.
  • Social Media – We have an active facebook page, but we are far from social media experts. We are on Twitter, Instagram, and other platforms, but our accounts could use some love, and we keep hearing these fancy words like SEO and RSS, but we have no idea what they mean. If you can help us into the 21st century, it will help us reach more people, and gain more support for our cause.
  • Web Design and Print – From designing flyers and infographics, or small changes to our website, to more complex tasks like creating contact forms and building a web store to sell our t-shirts and other merchandise on our website, we need help bringing our idea’s to fruition. If you have experience working in web development/design and HTML, WordPress, MailChimp, or programs like Illustrator, we can use your help!
  • Administration – Data-entry, Filing Open Record Act Requests in order to obtain the statistics and information from Contra Costa Animal Services, and organizing that data so that we can assess the current state of our sheltering system.
  • Mailing List / Newsletter – Collecting and Importing contact information, working in MailChimp to communicate effectively with our volunteers and supporters, and working with our Board Members to design a quarterly Newsletter.
  • Street Team – Members of the No Kill Street Team would distribute posters and flyers around down. Whether it’s for special events or general No Kill literature, we need help getting our information out to the masses – delivering them to coffee shops, public bulletin boards, local businesses like pet boutiques, groomers, vet hospitals, and more. (If you can print or donate toward printing literature, that’s an added bonus!)
  • Other – Whatever your skill set, we can find a way for you to help our cause!
